Biography

Ryan Cockerton is an Associate at Talbot Law Group, where he focuses his practice on Trust Administration, Probate, Conservatorship, and Trust & Estate Litigation. Before becoming a part of the Talbot team, Ryan developed his expertise as an attorney with prestigious San Francisco based firm Andersen Tax, LLC, where he specialized in a diverse range of complex tax issues, including high value trusts and estates.

Ryan’s experience provides clients with a precise and analytical approach to the financial and detailed complexities of probate law.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Cockerton gained foundational experience in estate planning and civil litigation through several prestigious clerkships in San Francisco. These roles involved extensive case research, drafting court memoranda, and managing complex file organizations for probate and trust-related matters.

Academic Background & Leadership

Mr. Cockerton earned his Juris Doctor from the University of San Francisco School of Law, where he also obtained a specialized Tax Certificate, with honors. His commitment to the field was reflected in his leadership roles, serving as President and Treasurer of the Students of Tax and Estate Planning. He was also a key contributor to the USF Law Review as a member of the Senior Staff.

Ryan completed his undergraduate studies cum laude at Southeastern Louisiana University. While earning his degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in Sociology, he balanced his academic rigors as a student-athlete on the university’s football team.  When he’s not working, Ryan enjoys spending time with his family and friends and attending sporting events.
